Professional character design is an iterative, flexible process that balances imagination with practical functionality. Anatomical accuracy and construction should be studied separately until these skills become second nature. Iain demonstrates how this allows for an entire focus on character and personality during the creation process. Artists learn the importance of patience by resisting the urge to finish details too early and remaining willing to restart anything that does not serve the story.

The most valuable lesson is that there are no true mistakes, only "misplaced successes." Iain teaches that a willingness to share failures and learn from them is what separates developing artists from professionals.
